Tobacco Cessation Coordinator
The Utah Department of Health and Human Services is looking for a health program coordinator to join the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program (TPCP). In this position, you will oversee TPCP cessation staff, the quit services contract, and provide quality improvement and outreach for cessation services.

Health Insurance - Public Employee Health Program (PEHP):
3 medical plan options. Choose a Traditional or High Deductible Health Plan. There is an Opt-Out Cash Benefit option for those that have other medical insurance coverage.
5 dental plan options, with an Opt-Out Cash Benefit option for those that have other dental insurance coverage.

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS):
Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.
Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System.
Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.
Paid Time Off:
Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).
Annual leave amounts increase with years of service.
We have 12 paid holidays.
The Agency

There will be no cost to you and fingerprints will be completed on the first day of employment or shortly thereafter. Principal Duties
- May supervise subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments; training, monitoring and evaluating performance; and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
- Oversees the cessation budget and quit services contract.
- Ensures appropriate statewide cessation services are available and effective.
- Identifies and develops cessation strategies that are appropriate for youth and young adults.
- Oversees collaborations with health care systems and referrals to the quit services through electronic health records.
- Promotes quit services through media campaigns, local health departments, schools, worksites, health care providers and other community partners.
- Analyzes, summarizes and/or reviews data; reports findings; interprets results and/or makes recommendations.
- Assists in coordinating federal grant applications and budgets.
- Assists in identifying, monitoring, and reporting quality improvement benchmarks.
- Provides technical assistance to staff, contractors, and partners.
- Enhances sustainability through partnerships and diversified funding for quit services.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, guidelines, etc.
- Conducts or participates in day-to-day development and monitoring of contracts, subrecipient agreements, and grants, in support of the larger program functions.
- Collaborates with other state and local programs, organizations and agencies, and with various stakeholders to promote program goals and objectives.
- Act as a subject matter expert on evidenced-based best practices for tobacco cessation and tobacco use reduction.
- Participates in national work groups and continuing education activities related to cessation and quit services operations and evaluation.

- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Ability to determine how systems should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
- Masters degree in Public Health, Health Education, or related field.
- CHES or MCHES preferred
- Considerable experience in Tobacco cessation programs and/or tobacco treatment programs
- Considerable experience in health systems change and quality improvement, including critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Considerable experience in contract management and administration.
- Experience writing and reviewing reports and giving presentations.
- The typical office setting for this job is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. However, you may encounter some risks that are associated with any office setting, for example, the safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Standard Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days. Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.
Physical Requirements
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Salary : $28 - $42
