ANR Regulatory Policy Analyst - Limited Service

Overview

This position will lead interdisciplinary long-range land management planning processes for select lands owned and managed by the Agency of Natural Resources (Agency), including State Forests and Wildlife Management Areas. Work principally involves coordinating and executing complex land management planning processes in conjunction with other Agency staff including writing management plans, conducting natural resource field assessments, and leading the public engagement phases of management planning. This position presents an opportunity to engage as a leader in planning for management of Vermont's public lands. Individuals with general natural resource expertise or specialization in wildlife biology, forestry, recreation or ecology and public engagement expertise are encouraged to apply.

This position, ANR Regulatory Policy Analyst - Limited Service (Req. 52513), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Duties are generally performed in a standard office setting, but with need for travel to Agency field locations and for attendance at public meetings, private means of transportation must be available. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary. Position may entail high profile and controversial natural resource issues that will require maturity, diplomacy and the ability to work under pressure.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years or more at a professional level in planning, public administration or natural resources regulatory process.

OR

Master's degree in planning, natural resources management and policy or public administration AND three (3) years or more at a professional level in planning, public administration or natural resources regulatory process.
