Responsible for a variety of clerical, receptionist and administrative functions in support of the work of the Clerk’s Office.
Under the direction of the Supreme Court Clerk, Deputy Clerk and Office Manager, this job independently performs a wide variety of technical, administrative and clerical tasks, with limited supervision. Independent judgment and discretion are applied within the bounds of established office policies and procedures.

Duties
Some of the duties you will perform are:
- Prepares written correspondence originating with the Clerk, Deputy Clerk or Senior Case Managers. Proofreads all correspondence for spelling and grammatical errors, and checks accuracy of addresses and case information by comparing to information in the court docket.
- Prepares letters advising parties of notation rulings made by the Clerk and Deputy Clerk.
- Prepares and finalizes orders and letters as required for all petition for review cases considered by departments of the court. Follows detailed process for distributing copies of the orders and letters to the parties, providing orders and letters to the appropriate Senior Case Manager for entry into appellate system database (ACORDS), and uploading and indexing the documents in the court’s electronic document depository (OnBase). Also, routes copies of orders to the appropriate division of the Court of Appeals and the Reporter of Decisions.
- Covers the front desk receptionist duties approximately 25% of the time. Responsibilities of coverage include answering the phone, directing calls to appropriate staff, answering general questions about cases or the court, assisting customers that come to the counter with questions or to file documents, responding to e-mails, and processing documents filed through the court’s e-filing portal.
- Opens mail to the Supreme Court, logs checks, and determines appropriate distribution of the mail. Also processes credit card payments for persons that come to the clerk’s office or as requested by e-mail and over the phone.
- Coordinates with the Administrative Office of the Courts regarding court rules. Manages rule comments, updates the rules webpage, and drafts and sends out rule orders and memoranda.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or business school AND two years of administrative/secretarial/clerical experience (preference will be given for appellate or trial court experience).
OR
Graduation from high school or GED AND four years of clerical/secretarial experience (preference will be given for appellate or trial court experience)
A combination of education and experience may be considered in meeting the qualifications.
