Job Title: Social Service Support Specialist (SSSS) - Placement Exception Facility.
Location: Burien, WA. Region 4. We have one dayshift vacancy. There will be some variation in work hours due to the need to provide 24/7 care for youth in the facility setting, travel with clients as cases require, and attend training and meetings in other locations.

Salary: Monthly: $3,393- $4,517. The salary listed does not include the additional 5% premium granted to all King County employees.

The Opportunity:
The Social Service Support Specialist (SSSS) functions as a direct care staff for youth staying in the Placement Exception Facility. The Placement Exception Facility provides short-term living options for foster youth, aged 13 to 18 with high behavioral and mental health needs who require high-level supervision and do not currently have a placement. These facilities can accommodate up to seven youths, with a staff-to-youth ratio of one SSS or support specialist for every three youths. Under general supervision, this position provides social services to youth, with child safety and well-being being the most important priority. Social Service Support Specialist staff are responsible for providing appropriate supervision, emotional support, attention, and structured daily routines and living experiences to youth in the Placement Exception Program. Direct care staff report directly to their Shift Supervisor, who provides ongoing guidance and oversight.
Some of what you will get to do:
- Provide supervision and monitoring of youth.
- Transport/monitor youth to and from school and community-based appointments.
- Maintain written documentation of daily activities and interactions in FamLink and/or shift communication logs.
- Review Child Information Placement Referral Forms.
- Manage weekly/monthly appointment calendar.
- Ensure confidentiality of youth information and documentation.
- Conduct routine and random resident checks including head counts, building integrity checks, key control, room searches, and make required security calls.
- Inspect rooms for cleanliness and contraband.
- Communicate and coordinate case planning activities for the youth with the assigned social service specialist.
- Report critical and unusual incidents to the supervisor.
- Prepare, serve, and supervise meals.
- May attend and testify in Superior Court.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma
AND
One year of experience in one of the following: supervised volunteer experience in youth/child-oriented organizations, counseling youth, or educating youth.
OR
30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree AND one year of experience in one of the following: caring for children, social care, supervised volunteer experience in youth/child-oriented organizations, counseling youth, education, and home visitations.
- Previous demonstrated experience using FAMLINK.
- Previous demonstrated work experience preparing records.
Conditions of Employment:
- Prior to initial appointment with the agency, incumbent must successfully complete a background check.
- The incumbent must successfully complete formal training courses as required by law, policy, and regional requirements within one year of their appointment.
- Incumbent must hold a valid driver's license when operating a state or privately-owned vehicle on official state business.
- The incumbent must successfully obtain a Washington State Food Handler card within 14 days of employment.
