AGENCY PROFILE:
CCCC is a 480-bed male facility. The facility is located in the Capital Forest 20 miles south of Tumwater. CCCC is co-located with the Department of Natural Resources and is a minimum-security facility. This facility houses minimum security incarcerated individuals and offers treatment, work, and vocational programs to help ready incarcerated individuals to transition back into the community. CCCC is a sustainability prison; some of the many programs include rehabilitation of ailing Western Pond Turtles, raising bees, training service dogs, and composting. The site includes two living units, a health clinic, education buildings, a gymnasium and support facilities. All incarcerated individuals work at this facility either on an off-site work crew or within the facility grounds.

Duties
The Recreation and Athletics Specialist 3 ensures the overall Recreation program meets the needs of both the facility and incarcerated individual population. This position will plan, organize and direct a majority of all recreation activities to include gym, yard, weights, intramural leagues, photos and in cell activities. This position may have responsibility for other special events and/or family centered programs.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Plan, organize, and coordinate recreational activities to meet both specific and general needs, interests, and abilities such as in-call hobby, and coordination.
- Supervise, instruct, and evaluate incarcerated individual participation in programs and activities.
- Provide supervision of mail outs and distributes all in-cell orders.
- Coordinate weekly ordering of office and janitorial supplies.
- Supervise and train volunteers and incarcerated individual recreation workers.
- Maintain recreation equipment inventory.
- Initiate purchase requisitions and distribute equipment.
- Supervise additional programs as needed.
Qualifications
What we need (required qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
- A bachelor’s degree involving major study in either (a) recreation or therapeutic recreation, (b) music, drama, or physical education, or (c) psychology, sociology, or education with a minor in recreation, physical education, music, or drama.
- Two (2) years of experience as Recreation and Athletics Specialist 2 OR professional recreation experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of sports, social activities, and art/crafts.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, plan, and successfully execute recreation program.
- Demonstrated ability to train and oversee volunteer leaders.
- Experience using Offender Management Network Information (OMNI) and Trust Accounting System (TAS)

- Salary is based on experience and is determined at the time an offer of employment is made. The salary listed in the job posting includes Steps A-M. Step M is a longevity step and is typically gained six years after being assigned to Step L in your permanent salary range.
