The Pacific Cascade Region of the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has a permanent opportunity for those seeking work in Product Sales! This is a key position that is the initial point of contact for all timber sales related documents and financial records within the region timber sales program of the assigned district(s). This position works with other Product Sales staff in the timber sales program to prepare timber sales for approval by the State Lands Assistant Region Manager, Region Manager, Forest Practices, and Board of Natural Resources. This position also provides contract administrative support during timber sale compliance and manages timber sale finances for agency management and trust beneficiaries.
Duties
Responsibilities:
- Acts as the point of contact for sales delivered by the districts by preparing and processing timber sale review documents and advertising materials. Reviews and analyzes contracts and other associated documents for completeness, adherence with Board of Natural Resources and Agency policy and procedures, ensures consistency with agency and region standards, and identifies contract terms and language suitable to comply with policies, procedures, and standards.
- Independently ensures accurate and complete timber sale finance account management by analyzing timber sale data for accuracy and completeness.
- Responsible for log and load accountability. This includes coordinating with external log scaling bureaus, scale facilities, timber sale purchasers, and region contract administrators.
- Facilitates all aspects of the contract process including creating documents, obtaining signatures, and contract modifications according to agency and state procedures.
- Acts as SharePoint Administrator and Timber Sales Record Officer. Maintains current and complete file records on agency’s SharePoint site. This position tracks and manages documents associated with record retention, public disclosure requests, and timber sale appeals.
- Coordinates with SE Region staff on subject matter related to 21Q. Prepares and processes documents relating to 21Q projects.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree involving major study in business administration, public administration, business law, commerce, economics, mathematics, statistics, or closely allied field AND One year of experience in negotiating, administering, or terminating contracts, contract property management, contract cost or price analysis, contract compliance administration or natural resource business or public administration field involving contract management;
OR An equivalent combination of education and/or experience. - Experience with contracts terminology and development; contracts practices and procedures.
- Experience in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office, including Excel spreadsheets, and Adobe Products.
- Experience organizing, prioritizing, and working within tight schedules and timelines with attention to detail.
- Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Customer service skills.

- Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and public records retention and requests are followed.

- This position works out of the PC Region Office in Castle Rock, WA. The position works in a shared office (Product Sales Office) with their own designated working area.
- Occasional travel is necessary within and outside the region.
- Knowledge of State laws and regulations governing contracts and agreements.
- Knowledge of the Washington State RCWs and WACs.
- Ability to work creatively with others to effectively solve problems.
- Knowledge and proficiency with Department of Natural Resources programs, operations, and software including: NatureE, PreSales System, ATB, TSDC, and SharePoint.
- Competency in ArcGIS, including editing.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- General knowledge of timber sale layout and associated documents.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
