Attention Registered Dietitians: We are looking to add a Dietitian 2 to our team at our Yakima Valley School, located in Selah, WA!
Yakima Valley School is a state operated Residential Habilitation Center (RHC) supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. The facility operates as a certified nursing facility recognized for quality medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy and psychiatric services and other programs such as: daily living activities, specialized therapeutic services, recreational services, medication management, employment assessments, Telehealth. Residents enjoy an active lifestyle, participating in many community activities. They also enjoy self-determination, dignity and great support from 260 friendly, professional staff.
Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
In this role, you will supervise the Food Services Manager, oversee food services operation, and act as the facility Registered Dietitian directing nutritional services for all residents of the facility. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating all phases of food services operations, including overseeing the budget and ordering for the facility. You'll perform these duties in a specialty setting of a Residential Habilitation Center, under Federal Nursing Home Regulations.

Who should apply?

Professionals with a Bachelor's Degree with a major in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, or Food Service Administration, completion of American Dietetic Association approved dietetic education program.
AND - Registered Dietitian status: 24 months of recent full-time experience as a Registered Dietitian.
- Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Some of what you will do
- Supervise the Food Services Manager, directs the work, develops systems/databases, instructs personnel in area of nutritional specialty and food processes
- Assess and evaluate nutritional needs of residents under the care of the facility, to include long-term and short-term (crisis and respite) individuals
- Consult with occupational therapist, speech pathologists and/or nursing staff to determine safe food textures to prevent choking/aspiration
- Formulate modified diet menus based on physician recommendation for resident
- Support the interview process and oversee hiring practices
- Provide guidance on training new employees
- Implement corrective action as necessary and recommend disciplinary actions
- Ensure concerns with performance are addressed by Food Services Manager as they arise
