We are excited to have a new opening for a job that truly makes a difference in the lives of others! Our team is hiring for a full-time Psychiatric Social Worker 3 at the historic Washington Soldiers Home in beautiful Orting, Washington!

Please Note: The expected work hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  • This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.

  • Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for 24/7 facilities. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025

These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.

As a Psychiatric Social Worker 3 for our Washington Soldiers Home, you will provide medically-related social services to Veterans/spouses to attain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each Veteran.

Duties

Some of what you'll be doing includes:

  • Completing psychosocial assessments, psychiatric case histories.
  • Completing assigned components of RAI (MDS, CAA, Care Plans research and completion).
  • Maintaining direct contact with residents and families.
  • Completing psychosocial assessment interviews (Initial, quarterly, annual, significant change, change of therapy, and discharge).
  • Completion of assigned sections of the MDS (PASRR, cognition, psychosocial well-being, mood, behavior, psychotropic, and discharge).
  • Inputting data from assessments into Electronic Medical Records (Point Click Care).
  • Perform 1:1 visits, phone, care conferences, and discharge planning.
  • Conducting interviews for ongoing assessment and treatment with a focus on the resident's cognitive, mood, psychosocial, and behavioral status.
  • Developing behavioral plans and maintaining behavior monitors when necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree from an approved school of social work. A degree in social work must be from an educational program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
AND
  • Two (2) years of experience in working with a population requiring mental health counseling or emotionally disturbed individuals. A combination of education and experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis. Experience must be relevant to the position.
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to practice in the State of Washington. If an individual does currently not possess a LICSW to practice in the state of Washington upon hire, they may still be eligible for employment but must obtain an LICSW within two (2) years of hire as a condition of employment.

Preferred/Desired:
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in care of geriatric population, dementia care, geriatric mental health, or Veteran population.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively complete MDS 3.0, RAI requirements.
  • Experience in care of geriatric population, dementia care, and geriatric mental health.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize heavy workload.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Medical conditions/diagnosis.
    • Categories of psychoactive medication.
    • Veterans' issues and trauma informed care.


Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
  • Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.
  • Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards. Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write in the English language for medical charts and data entry.
  • Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
  • Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
