About the position:
Under the direction of the Apple Health Communications Manager, this position plays a key role in sharing the HCA story with external stakeholders and customers. This position has primary responsibility for managing agency social media tools, planning and implementing social media campaigns, and training agency staff as appropriate. This position has primary responsibility for agency video production, including video training, development, and coordination of video projects.
This position is eligible to telework part-time but is frequently required to report on-site to meet business need. The default assigned work location of all Health Care Authority (HCA) positions – both on-site and telework eligible positions – is within the State of Washington. Frequency of onsite work will vary based on business and operational needs. HCA may choose, but is not required, to support out-of-state telework on a case-by-case basis.
Duties
Some of what you will do:
Plan, coordinate, and implement agency social media program.
- Manage agency social media strategic plan and policies.
- Advise management and staff on social media policies and practice and participate in management decision-making process regarding effective and appropriate use of social media.
- Manage agency social media tools, scheduler, and customer inquires through agency social media channels.
- Manage social media budget.
- Create original social media content supporting “One HCA.”
Coordinate video production projects.
- Develop and produce agency promotional and outreach videos for all divisions.
- Manage HCA video mailbox and triage video projects to appropriate program/videographer.
- Consult with staff and vendors to storyboard, script, shoot, edit and promote videos to tell the HCA story.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
Qualifying candidates will satisfy one of the following criteria options:
Option 1:
- Bachelor’s degree involving major study in journalism, communications, public relations, or closely allied field and
- Three (3) years of work experience or training in communications, journalism, or related relations/community information positions that included writing, editing, and planning.
Option 2:
- Associate degree and
- Five (5) years of work experience or training in communications, journalism, or related relations/community information positions that included writing, editing, and planning.
Option 3:
- Seven years of work experience or training in communications, journalism or related relations/community information positions that included writing, editing, and planning.
Qualifying candidates will also have:
- Experience using social media tools to communicate with multiple audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee video production and/or experience producing video programming.
Preferred qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex technical information verbally and in writing to a non-technical audience, including the application of "Plain Talk" principles to legally precise documents.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and advise all levels of staff, including the executive level.
- Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, identify communications needs, and develop goals and comprehensive work plans for achieving those goals.
- Ability to work independently and in groups.
- Knowledge of state health care programs, commercial health care insurance and current health care issues.
- Experience working with government agencies, health care providers, health care insurers and/or public/private health care stakeholders/customers.
- Demonstrated ability to use social media tools to communicate with multiple audiences.
- Knowledge of human-centered design principles and tactics.
