The Washington State Investment Board (WSIB) is a dedicated global investment management organization with over $211.5 billion in assets under management. The WSIB operates in a hybrid work environment and this position should anticipate 60% of their time in the office.

The WSIB is seeking a qualified candidate to join our Tangible Assets team as an Assistant Investment Officer (AIO). The primary objective of the Assistant Investment Officer (AIO) is to assist the Senior Investment Officer (SIO), Assistant Senior Investment Officer (ASIO), and Investment Officer (IO) in the ongoing management and monitoring of tangible asset investments while ensuring consistency with the State of Washington’s statutes, regulations, and Board policies with the highest standard of professional and ethical conduct for the exclusive benefit of WSIB beneficiaries.


Duties

IF SELECTED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY, YOU WILL:

  • Compile, evaluate, and report to the team on portfolio composition, sector/subsector allocations, geographic mix, and manager concentration.
  • Evaluate and propose various performance metrics.
  • Oversee all databases and sources used by the Tangible Assets team. This includes ensuring the accuracy of fund-level data provided by a third party and evaluating and recommending new systems or data.
  • Work with other team members to assist with data, analysis, and reporting in developing investment recommendations and monitoring.
  • Review, and keep current, on issues affecting sectors utilized by the tangible assets framework.
  • Perform ad hoc research projects on economics, industry, and sector related to tangible assets.

Qualifications

COMPETITIVE APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:

  • A bachelor’s degree coupled with entry-level experience in finance, preferably in private partnerships in an institutional investment setting.
  • A relevant master’s degree and/or CFA/CAIA certification or progress toward such certification may substitute for experience.

THE STRONGEST APPLICANT WILL HAVE:

  • CFA and/or CAIA designation
