Be a part of something new! The Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility is a therapeutic facility to help youth, age 13 and older, with co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities who have complex needs such as mental illness or substance use disorder.
The Speech Pathologist/Audiologist Specialist 2 will plan, organize, and direct the Communication Disorders Services for identification and treatment of speech, language, and hearing-impaired individuals.
The property opened in July 2024 and was designed with children and youth in mind and features accessible spaces for onsite educational services and therapies, as well as access to outdoor space. The voluntary facility will initially serve 12 youth.
King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.Some of what you’ll do:
- Confer with other staff to coordinate Communication Disorders Services with those of other programs
- Establish procedures for referrals to specialists within and outside the institution when appropriate.
- Establish procedures to provide consultative services to other departments/agencies.
- Conduct regularly scheduled departmental meetings
- Represent department at administrative and interdepartmental meetings.
- Supervise and instructs speech pathologists, audiologists, students and/or support staff.
Who should apply:
Professionals with a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology or Communicative Disorders.
OR
Documentation of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association approved equivalent to the Master’s degree consisting of approved curriculum and student practicum hours.
AND
A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
NOTE: Five years of experience as a speech pathologist, audiologist, or equivalent is preferred.
