Do you have experience with gardening and grounds maintenance? We are excited to have an opportunity for a Grounds and Nursery Services Specialist to join our team at our Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center (RHC) in Shoreline, WA.
This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled grounds and gardening work under the supervision of the Grounds and Nursery Supervisor at Fircrest RHC. Additionally, it may serve as a lead role, assisting with supervisory duties alongside other grounds supervisors.
Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.
Work schedule: 7:00AM - 3:30PM (Monday to Friday)
Some of what you'll do:
- Perform skilled grounds and gardening work on the 76-acre campus.
- Maintain lawns, sidewalks, plants, shrubs, and flower beds.
- Removes any unruly vegetation or shrubbery growth that is out of control.
- Reports any presence of poison ivy or other poisonous vegetation or insect nests.
- Cleans and removes trash/debris from catch basins and storm-water drains.
- Spread, cultivate, seed, weed and irrigate soil for gardens and lawns.
- Installs, maintains, repairs and adjusts water sprinkler systems and control devices.
- Applies pesticides and herbicides to flowers and shrubs.
- Formulating annual operating plans for storm-water maintenance programs
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who should apply: People with high school graduation or equivalent AND at least two years’ experience gardening or in ground maintenance.
