Position and Salary
The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full time Paralegal 2 in the Social & Health Services division. This position is located in Seattle, Washington, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).
Paralegal 2 (Range 55) salary range : $59,844 - $80,460
The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
The following stipends may apply based on position requirements :
- Incumbents assigned to our Seattle office location receive an additional 5% King County Location Pay stipend.
- Incumbents assigned to a position designated as requiring dual language skills will receive a 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay stipend.

About the Social & Health Services division :
The Social and Health Services Division provides legal support to the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Our division handles a variety of work including child abuse, neglect, and termination of parental rights proceedings; vulnerable adult protection and guardianship proceedings; foster care, child care, and adult family home administrative proceedings; and appeals involving all of these cases.
Duties and Essential Functions of a Paralegal 2 :
This is fast-paced, high-volume litigation. It requires excellent communication and time-management skills, as well as the ability to juggle competing priorities, think on your feet, and work effectively with a variety of people. Experience with litigation case-preparation and a commitment to child advocacy are preferred. This is a great opportunity to handle interesting and meaningful work in a supportive, team-oriented environment in beautiful downtown Seattle.
The SHS Division paralegals provide support for three or more attorneys in case preparation of matters scheduled in superior court, including the juvenile department of superior court, as well as administrative forums and appellate courts. This position assists the AAG in the formal discovery process; tracks and manages AAGs’ trial schedule. Performs trial preparation such as : Summarize complete case history; identify and interview potential witnesses; investigate complete criminal histories and paternity issues; identify documents for and prepare trial and exhibit notebooks; draft pleadings and correspondence; perform legal research; review files to determine if due diligence has been accomplished, and other duties as required. This position may provide litigation support in vulnerable adult guardianship proceedings in Superior Court on behalf of the Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS)’s Aging and Long-Term Support Administration / Adult Protective Services (APS), in cases involving vulnerable adult guardianships, protection orders, and licensing action involving adult family homes and assisted living facilities.

Combination of four years of experience through :
