About the position
This role is part of WaTech’s Secure Gateway Services (SGS) within the Computing Services Division (CSD). SGS enables a secure web-enabled government by providing access to state services via the internet. They provide secure access to mission-critical services for constituents and businesses that allow them to pay taxes, apply for unemployment benefits, access social service benefits, access law enforcement data and other critical services, and are key components of the security infrastructure for the state of Washington.
As a SAW Operations Specialist, you will work closely with state and local business managers, security professionals and diverse technical disciplines to integrate complex systems, applications and security infrastructure within the WaTech’s Secure Gateway Services.
Some of what to expect with this role:
- Identify monitoring requirements for new infrastructure/solutions.
- Deploy new monitoring in Nagios and verified alerting and thresholds for alerts.
- Provide subject matter expertise to logging and monitoring as an Elastic Kibana systems administrator.
- Determine and deploy enhancements to redundancy and availability of logging and monitoring solutions.
- Design, test, implement and maintain complex Secure Gateway systems and applications that utilize security services including Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, digital certificates, and forward/reverse proxy.
- Participate in quality assurance testing of SGS applications. Automate and use test plans to record bugs, issues and features of changes to SGS applications.
- Configure hardware and software that supports identity management, multi-factor and mobile application solutions.
- Implement security policies compliant with statewide security guidelines and best practices for Secure Gateways Services.
- Work with agencies for SecureAccess Washington and other related identity/access management solutions using Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS), Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) 2.0, and OpenID Connect (OIDC).
- Provide advanced (Tier 3) troubleshooting and resolution of back-end service issues (Elastic/Kibana Cluster, RedHat Identity Manager, RedHat Satellite, Netbox Inventory, Zed Attack Proxy (OWASP ZAP) Security Scanning tools).
- Perform complex analysis and troubleshooting of Linux or Windows operating systems, WaTech reverse proxy, SSL certificates, LDAP, and directory server technologies, as well as third-party integrations to the SAW product, such as external SMS, email, and bot prevention tools.
- Develop, test, implement and maintain scripts and applications used to operate and support the Secure Gateway environment.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Eight years of professional experience administrating, troubleshooting and analyzing shared security infrastructure, including: proxy servers, databases, firewalls, denial-of-service protection, intrusion detection and prevention, and authentication systems. This must include hands-on experience working with the following:
- Two years' experience in administration of two or moreof the following:
- Red Hat LINUX Enterprise (RHEL)
- LINUX Suse
- Microsoft Server (current version)
- Tomcat
- Apache
- Internet Information Services (IIS)
- Two years' experience working in a large, high-volume 24/7 customer- or service-provider network.
- Two years' experience in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Certificate Authority (CA), Encrypted Key Management (EKM) and/or digital Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate technologies.
- Two years' experience in forward/reverse proxy administration and support.
- Two years' experience in VMware administration and support.
- Two years' experience in Log aggregation solutions (e.g. Greylog, Elastic, Dynatrace).
- Two years' experience in administration of two or moreof the following:
*Formal education in Computer Sciences or a related field or completion of an accredited certificate program may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required experience.*
Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:
- Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining Elastic/Kibana in an enterprise environment
- Prior experience integrating with or operation of an enterprise SIEM for high-traffic web applications
- CCNA, GIAC, CISSP certification(s)
- Spanish language fluency
- Project management experience
Telework: This position is approved for telework. However, it requires the incumbent to be onsite in the Olympia, Washington office as needed to attend meetings, training, and perform onsite maintenance.
