Our team is now accepting applications for a Full-Time,Licensed Practical Nurse 2 on Day Shift at the historic Washington Soldiers Home in Orting, Washington!
Please Note: Expected work hours will be 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with every Wednesday & Thursday off.
*This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.
Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.

These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse 2 to provide nursing-related care and services within our Washington Veterans Home. This includes monitoring and recording all aspects of care, passing medications, administering oxygen, suctioning and providing trach care, irrigations, colostomy care, feeding tubes, dressing changes and treatments, and other duties.

Some of what you'll be doing includes:
- Passing or administering medications; monitoring, and recording treatments.
- Suctioning patients, administering oxygen, catheterization, irrigation and administering IV solutions, providing colostomy and trach care, maintaining gastric feeding tubes and pumps, dressing changes and treatments sterile and non-sterile.
- Treating minor ailments such as headaches, stomach aches, colds, influenza, cuts and scratches.
- Responding to call lights, emergencies and facility codes.
- Recording actions and findings in medical charts.
- Adhering to infection control procedures; maintaining safe and sanitary environment.
- Assisting with positioning, transferring and ambulation of residents.
- Providing input on performance of Nursing Assistants; training nursing assistants to established standards.

Required:
- Current, valid Washington State license to practice as a licensed practical nurse.
- Long Term Nursing care experience as an LPN.
- Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
- Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.
- Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards. Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and be capable of reaching a minimum of 36" using proper technique to stock shelves and access supplies. Employee must also be able to push or pull with sufficient strength and walk, sit, and bend in an unrestricted manner during the entire workday.
- Must have the ability to speak, read, and write in the English language for medical charts and data entry.
- Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
- Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
