Are you experienced in handling inventory, procurement, and receiving stock and looking for an opportunity to support a greater mission? Join our team as a Procurement and Supply Specialist 1 for the Dietary Services Department at the Washington Veterans Home in scenic Port Orchard, Washington!
Please note : The expected shift for this position is 4 : 30 a.m. to 1 : 00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Washington Veterans Home.
- This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.
Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty-four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.

In addition, we provide critical community services through a variety of programs, and at our four State Veterans Homes located in Orting, Port Orchard, Spokane, and Walla Walla. These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.
As a Procurement and Supply Specialist 1 , you will provide all procurement and supply needs to the Dietary Services Department of the Washington Veterans Home while interacting closely with staff, residents, families, and the general public to perform your duties. Your role is crucial to ensuring seamless supply management functions, including receipt, storage, and transfer of materials and property.
Put your customer service and people skills to work by serving America's heroes! Some of what you'll do :
Receive and process all frozen food orders.
Receive, process, and stock food.
Contact vendors to discuss the disposition of damaged goods received or any questions on billing.
Perform ongoing contract and contractor evaluations to ensure goods and services are delivered and in accordance with contract requirements and prices remain competitive with general market.
Required :
Lift / carry / push / pull frequently up to 60 lbs. and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
Preferred / Desired :
Veteran population.
Organize, prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.
