The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill an Outreach Specialist ( Client Services Assistant ) position. This position is based out of Oshkosh Correctional Institution in Oshkosh, WI (Winnebago County).

Position Summary

The Client Services Assistant (CSA) serves as an Outreach Specialist in the Transitional Treatment Center Program (TTC) at Oshkosh Correctional Institution (OSCI). The center provides mental health, health, social services, correctional, and rehabilitation services to clients with significant mental illnesses and / or intellectual disabilities.

This position will provide support services to professional staff, and will serve as the community-liaison for clients as an extension of program services.

This position will determine the client's need for services; managing clients' cases; and referring clients to available community resources post-release.

The work includes interaction with the client for purposes of assessing client need and applicability of agency services, establishing and maintaining client-agency rapport, and providing, under professional supervision, direct services to the client.

The CSA will coordinate treatment efforts with other institution staff, parole agent, client's family, and / or community resources.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 12-65 with a starting pay of $20.00 / hour - $26.45 / hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details

This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site and travel. This position will travel regularly within the state , likely at least once a week on average. Travel will usually be in a state-owned fleet vehicle and the position will use a state-owned cell phone due to the routine travel.

Work hours are primarily Monday - Friday, 7 : 45 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m., with a 45-minute unpaid lunch. This position is also required to work a schedule based on operational needs of the institution and outreach services.

This position is FLSA Non-Exempt.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license and meet State of Wisconsin fleet requirements . Employees will be required to maintain a valid driver's license and eligibility to drive a fleet vehicle.

Minimally qualified applicants will have :

  • Experience facilitating group treatment or programming (creating plans, assessing and documenting progress, collaborating with others, utilizing motivational interviews skills and evidence-based practices, etc.)
  • Experience coordinating case management (identifying needs, making referrals, etc.)
  • Experience connecting clients with community resources
