Introduction
The Wisconsin Assembly Democratic Fellowship program promotes career opportunities and learning experiences for students and graduates. We aim to promote career opportunities and learning experiences for historically under-represented communities including racial / ethnic minorities, women, people with disabilities, and veterans.
Legislative fellows will have the opportunity to work within a Democratic legislative office on projects related to diverse policy issues, constituent relations, communications, and other matters. Responsibilities for fellows will include various tasks such as constituent casework, committee tracking, press monitoring, and legislative research, and will provide experience for potential future staff roles within the legislature.
Position Summary
Fellowship positions are limited. Applicants should indicate if they are interested in participating in the unpaid internship program if they are not selected for the fellowship opportunity. More details found here.
Salary Information
Fellows will be expected to work a total of 20 hours a week and will earn $15 an hour.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications :
- Desire to be engaged in and high-level understanding of the political process
- Willingness to ask questions to clarify assignments
- Entry-level skills to research and analyze legislative issues and processes
- Strong interpersonal communications skills
- Ability to work well in a team setting
- High-level organization and time management skills
