This attorney position on the health team is responsible for managing a high-volume caseload. This position also assists with investigations of complaints against credential holders of the department and regulatory authorities, assists professionals in achieving compliance, negotiates stipulated resolutions of complaints, and commences formal disciplinary action against credential holders of the Department and regulatory authorities when stipulations are not possible. Specific responsibilities include:
This position is in schedule-range (09-75) with an annual salary of $84,240 -$100,880, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Position Summary

- Determine violations by analyzing allegations, evidence, and law.
- Negotiate with respondents or their attorneys to obtain compliance or stipulated resolutions through formal orders.
- Review informal complaints to analyze issues and determine if they are within the jurisdiction of the Department or regulatory authorities.
- Establish the scope and direction of investigations and ensure that the investigations are proceeding in a timely, efficient, and fiscally responsible manner.
- Research and prepare documents, including but not limited to pleadings, affidavits, motions, briefs, memoranda, and correspondence related to administrative proceedings.
- Conduct discovery including depositions, drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests to admit, requests to produce and other discovery available under Wis. Stat. Ch. 804.
