Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS) , Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) is recruiting for 1 AM shift and 3 PM shift Center Wide Floating Certified Nursing assistants (CNAs). CWC provides short-term and long-term residential services to assist people living with intellectual disabilities in acquiring the personal skills needed to reach their highest potential. CWC is located at 317 Knutson Drive on the north side of Madison.

The AM full time position will work 6 : 00 am - 2 : 30 pm, and the PM full-time positions will work 2 : 00 pm - 10 : 30 pm. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies on any shift . We offer a team-oriented atmosphere and a focus on work-life balance.

Position Summary

As a Center Wide Float CNA, you will be responsible for working in various CWC residential Living Units, (including our two short term units) while performing appropriate CNA tasks and providing care for residents throughout the facility. In addition, you will :

Perform and ensure the provision of appropriate care for CWC residents while in the hospital consistent with CWC and UW hospital rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and while at onsite and offsite clinic appointments.

Be expected to act as a coach for all other CNAs and Resident Care Assistants (RCAs) by performing and demonstrating appropriate tasks according to current position description and rules and regulations and CWC policy and procedures.

Adhere to Intermediate Care Facilities / Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (IFC / IID) regulations such as resident protections and rights, active treatment services, resident behavior programs, health care services, and dietary services.

Salary Information

These positions are classified as Resident Care Technician - Advanced. Starting pay is between $26.42 and $29.73 / hour based on state seniority. Additional increases are based on years of service in the chart below.

An $.80 / hour night differential and an $.80 / hour weekend differential applies to worked shifts.

A $2,000 sign-on bonus applies to those with no prior state service in the last five years; who stay with CWC in the position until completing probation. Bonus will be split, $1,000 upon hire and $1,000 after completing probation.

A 12-month probationary period is required. The pay schedule and range is 06 / 12.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following :

Must be 18 years of age upon hire.

Must be willing and able to work every other weekend, some holidays, and occasional overtime based on emergency operational need.

A valid Wisconsin CNA certification.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following :

Experience training, leading, overseeing, or directing staff in CNA skills or duties.

Experience providing direct care to individuals with intellectual disabilities and behavioral health needs.

Experience providing comprehensive care and monitoring of care provided to CWC residents during inpatient hospital stays.
