Introduction


Come serve as an advocate for the Women of Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Women’s Council is seeking an Executive Director to manage its mission to enhance the ability of all Wisconsin women to participate fully and equally in all aspects of life.

The Women's Council promotes initiatives to empower women, serves as a clearinghouse for information on programs and resources, collects and disseminates information on the status of women, and engages in unique partnerships to identify and address barriers to women's full social and economic participation, and advance equity for all Wisconsin women.

The Wisconsin Women’s Council advises state agencies on how current and emerging state policies, laws, and rules have an impact on women; recommends changes to the public and private sectors, initiates legislation to further women’s economic and social equality, and disseminates information on the status of women in the State of Wisconsin. This position is located at the Department of Administration State Office Building, 101 East Wilson Street, Madison, WI. This position currently has the flexibility to work remotely. Additional time in the office may be required depending on operational needs. Position Summary


Under the general supervision of the designee of the Secretary of the Department of Administration, this position serves as Executive Director to the Wisconsin Women's Council.

The position reports to the Wisconsin Women's Council, attached to the Department of Administration under s. 15.30, Wis. Stats., with oversight by the Deputy Administrator of the Division of Enterprise Operations in the Department of Administration.

The position has responsibility for: actively soliciting input and ideas from Council board members and implementing the goals and policy of the Council through programming and activities; coordinating staff services to the Council; coordinating with government and nongovernmental organizations; providing information and referral services to the public; administrative management of all council operations including fiscal, personnel, information technology, and contract management.

Salary Information


Starting hourly rate for the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Women’s Council position (schedule/range 81-02) will be $31.44 per hour - $51.85 per hour depending on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits. A 2-year career executive trial period will be required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants will have experience with:

  • Public or government policy development and legislative processes.
  • Managing program and/or project operations (e.g., developing budgets, analyzing organizational needs, developing, implementing, and evaluating program objectives, leading meetings, etc.).
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with a variety of groups and individuals including legislators and other public officials, agency representatives, advocates, private employers, stakeholder groups, etc.
  • Policy advocacy or community organizing.
  • Researching, interpreting, and applying laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or other complex documents.

In addition, well-qualified applicants will have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Providing policy and strategic guidance to a board, council, executive leadership, etc.
  • Building consensus among stakeholders.
  • Budget and policy analysis or advancing policy initiatives impacting women.
  • Public speaking such as acting as a spokesperson on behalf of an organization.
