The Bureau of Human Resources, Region 2 is currently recruiting to fill a Human Resources Supervisor vacancy. Region 2 provides HR services to the Department of Corrections (DOC). This position is eligible to be headquartered at any Department of Corrections office(s) in the following cities: Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Eau Claire.
NOTE: If the selected candidate will be headquartered outside of Madison, they will be required to travel to Madison as needed.
Position Summary
This position functions as the supervisor of a team focused on centralized recruitment and selection for positions at the DOC. The Centralized Recruitment and Selection Team currently works with the recruitment and selection of candidates for Correctional Officer positions. This position also develops and oversees a coordinated recruitment and staffing program that promotes the Department as an employer and maximizes the efficient use of staff and resources. This position supervises two HR Specialists and two HR Assistants and provides guidance to other Institutional HR staff on recruitment and selection. Responsibilities include providing independent human resources consultation, interpretation, technical assistance, training, and customer service to DOC managers, supervisors, employees, and the public.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $40.00 and $44.33 per hour, plus excellent benefits. Pay upon appointment may vary and will be in accordance with language in the Compensation Plan, Statutes, and Administrative Code at the time of hire. The pay schedule/range is 81-03. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of application. Region 2 will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
NOTE: This position is eligible to work remotely up to 3 days per week.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
- Performing full-cycle staffing and compensation related activities (developing assessments, creating job postings, reviewing pay and making recommendations/determinations, etc.) in a professional human resources role
- Providing consultation to organizational leadership and/or supervisors on staffing related policies and procedures
- Performing lead worker related duties (reviewing work, providing training/mentoring, etc.)
In addition to the above, well-qualified applicants will have experience:
- Formal supervisory experience (hiring, conducting performance evaluations, etc.)
- Analyzing recruitment and/or selection data to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and implement solutions
- Working in public sector human resources
- Utilizing an enterprise resource planning platform such as PeopleSoft or similar
