As an IT Project Manager you will help drive technology changes to enhance productivity, simplify IT and increase cyber security at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue and for the benefit of Wisconsin taxpayers.

The Division of Technology Services (DTS) within the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) is filling a project management position at the following level depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate: IS Systems Development Services Senior (07-34) level.

Remote/Telework up to 60%. Note: During probation you will have the opportunity to gradually increase to 60% (i.e., working remotely three (3) days per week, and will report to the 2135 Rimrock Road; Madison WI building, two (2) days per week) within 9 months (of your 12-month probation) based on performance and workload needs.

Your Role

As a Project Manager (PM), You Will Help Achieve The Agency Goal Of Enabling DOR To Operate Efficiently And Effectively. Your PM Skills Will Help Manage The Division’s IT Projects Requested By Our Partners Within The Agency, To Provide High Quality Projects With On Time Delivery. Your PM Tasks Will Include (but Are Not Limited To):

  • Management of project timelines, project scope, resource assignment and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure department IT Project Management (PM) practices, processes, and procedures are well-conceived so that the Division of Technology Services (DTS) implements successful projects that support the work of DOR.
  • Perform, plan and manage the delivery of project solutions and development technology
  • Coordinating activities of project teams and stakeholders, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely project completion.

  • You have training or experience documenting project artifacts.
  • You have training or experience running more than one small or medium enhancement project simultaneously.

Salary Information

Salary for this IS Systems Development Services Senior position (schedule-range 07-34) is $68,348 to $75,753 annually ($32.86 – $36.42 hourly), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.

A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

The Department of Revenue will conduct criminal background, tax compliance checks and fingerprint checks on candidates prior to offer of hire.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas, either at time of hire or at any later time. DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

Minimum qualified candidates will have experience in each of the following:

  • IT Project Management experience (e.g., working with project teams, developing project plans, assigning resources, identifying and tracking risks, project status reporting, etc.).
  • Experience using more than one type of project methodology (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Iterative, etc.) in project management work.
  • Experience participating in business user workflow (e.g., requirement analysis, change management, etc.).

Well Qualified Candidates Will Have Experience In a Minimum Of One (1) Of The Following (in Addition To The Minimum Qualifications):

  • Experience managing or overseeing projects that are governed and/or influenced by Federal and State laws, policies and/or guidelines.
  • Experience managing multi-project portfolios.
  • A Project Management Certification (PMP), or A Portfolio Management Certification (PfMP), or Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with requirements elicitation, requirements analysis and/or documentation.
