The Wisconsin Veterans Home in King (WVHK) is recruiting for a part-time Locksmith, to join our Facility & Physical Plant Services team. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The facility is on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton. Come join our dedicated team!

Position Summary
Would you like to provide facility access and security for Wisconsin veterans who call WVHK their home?
The Locksmith at our facility ensures that locks, doors and security systems at WVHK comply with provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act and applicable fire and safety codes. The incumbent works independently to install, repair, replace, re-key, and adjust mechanical and electronic locks and electronic access control systems; fabricates and installs related door components and hardware; performs a variety of inspections, adjustments and repairs to buildings and grounds; makes minor repairs such as window glass and/or screen replacements; and performs other tasks as assigned.
The position will be filled at the Entry or Objective level, depending on candidate qualifications. Locksmith-Entry works under close progressing to limited supervision and builds up to performing the full range of duties for the position. Locksmith-Objective works under general supervision, performing independently with functional mastery of locksmith techniques.

Salary Information
Starting wage at the Entry level up to $23.49 per hour. Starting wage at the Objective level up to $24.95 per hour. The rate on hire will be determined based on candidate qualifications.
Both levels are eligible for additional compensation for nights, weekends, and holidays and an attractive employee benefits package.
Locksmith-Entry is in pay schedule-pay range 03-10. Locksmith-Objective is in pay schedule-pay range 03-11. For current State employees, pay may vary based on the applicable provisions of the Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
Job Details
This part-time position works 24 hours per week. The preferred work schedule is 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. three days per week. The final schedule can be discussed after hire and must be approved by the position’s supervisor.
Job duties require the ability to perform heavy work, occasionally exerting over 75 pounds of force; climb and work on ladders and/or scaffolding; work with loud, shaking and/or vibrating equipment; and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Qualifications

Additional required and preferred experience that will be assessed later in the selection process are:
- Pinning door/cabinet/paddle locks; and
- Using work order systems and email communication; and
- Working independently and managing workload; and
- Installing manual/electronic door locks/keys and security systems; and/or
- Recordkeeping and inventory tracking; and/or
- Professional communication and working on a team; and/or
- Working in a secure environment and/or in occupied spaces.
