The Wisconsin DNR is hiring up to 15 LTE (Limited Term Employee) – Forestry Nursery Workers positions at our Wilson State Forest Nursery, in Boscobel, WI.
These positions are expected to start on or around March 10th, 2025.

Our Forestry Reforestation Team plants approximately 5 million trees across the State each year. In order to complete this mission, we're seeking to hire up to 15 positions to assist in preparing for our spring seedling distribution. These positions are expected to begin in early March and end in May 2025.

Position Summary
These positions will provide support to contract labor crews. The work will involve packing boxes, palletizing boxes, making boxes, root pruning operations, quality control, and/or transporting seedlings for the spring seedling distribution as well as assisting with nursery stock care.
75% Duties including packing, palletizing, box handling, root pruning, bundling, order tracking, transporting, and grading seedlings.
20% Duties include assisting with stock care including weeding, as well and facilities and equipment care.
5% Administrative duties include timesheets, training, record keeping.
Salary Information
These position pay between $14.50-16.00 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 03-08. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.

4) Allow individuals to hold multiple LTE appointments concurrently. If both LTE positions are at the same agency, the positions must be bona fide different positions. Each individual LTE position allows for maximum of 1039 hours in a twelve-month period.
Special Requirements:
1) Residency: To be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
A Wisconsin resident is a person who:
a. Has established a residence, as defined in s. 6.10(1), in this state not less than 10 days earlier;
b. Has resided in this state for not less than a total of one year out of the immediately preceding 5 years;
c. Is eligible to register to vote in this state; or
d. Is the spouse of a person meeting the requirements of par. (a), (b), or (c).” s.230.03(12), Wis. Stats.
2) Background Checks: The Department of Natural Resources conducts criminal background checks on final applicants prior to a job offer. - Experience in quality control
