Position Summary
At the Marinette Police department, we are committed to providing high-quality services to the public and making a positive impact in our community. We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Public Service Officer to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safety and well-being of animals and the community by enforcing animal-related laws, educating the public, and responding to animal-related emergencies. You will be responsible for enforcing local animal control laws, investigating animal complaints, rescuing animals in distress, and ensuring the safe return of lost pets. You will work closely with animal shelters, veterinarians, and the public to promote responsible pet ownership and protect the safety of both animals and residents. Salary Information
The 2025 hourly pay for this position is $24.08 - $27.50 plus excellent benefits package. This position includes step increases and annual COLA pending City Council approval.
Employees will be automatically enrolled in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), a pension to help provide for financial security during retirement, which consists of employer and employee contributions.
Job Details
The typical work schedule is 40 hours a week, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (work outside of normal hours when necessary). New employees receive two weeks' vacation time (prorated in the first year), sick pay and floating holidays on the first day of work. Applicant shall, within six months of hire, establish residency within the State of Wisconsin.
Qualifications
- Must possess high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid State of Wisconsin Driver’s License.
- Previous experience in animal control, animal shelter work, law enforcement, or public safety is a plus.
- Obtain TIME certification and Humane Officer certification within six months of hire.
- Selected candidates will need to participate in a ride-a-long prior to any job offer.
