What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse - LTE position at State of Wisconsin?
Introduction

- LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a permanent civil service classified position, and do not lead to permanent status.
- Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions.
- No more than 1039 hours may be worked within a 12-month period.
Now hiring positions with a tentative start date of April 21.
Available shift: Rotating AM/PM (6:30am – 3:00pm / 2:30 pm – 11 pm)
These are not Pro Re Nata (PRN) positions.
Upon completion of seven weeks of training (M-F primarily from 6:30 am – 3 pm although some PM shifts may be included). You will be scheduled to work every other weekend and need to be available to work 3 additional shifts within a two-week period on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. There is some flexibility in scheduling work shifts based on operational needs. In most cases, you will not be able to choose which days you will work but would be scheduled for shifts approximately 1 month in advance based on known staffing needs, so you will know your schedule in advance. You must be available to work holidays as needed also.

Position Summary
As an RN, you will use the nursing process to implement nursing interventions in basic and complex patient situations at WMHI. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Completing daily nursing assessments, responding to medical emergencies, administering medications and working as part of a multidisciplinary team in the provision of medical care.
- Overseeing and providing guidance to other nursing staff (Certified Nursing Assistants), assuring patient health and safety needs are met.

- $1.40/hour differential for RNs that work hours between 6pm and 6am.
- $0.80/hour weekend differential applies to worked shifts.
- This position is classified as a Nurse Clinician 2 and the pay schedule and range is 11/02.
- Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details
All applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB screen, which will be administered by WMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry fifty pounds several times a day (patient, filled laundry bags, equipment ,etc). Must be able to bend, kneel, crawl, twist and balance to assist in various situations. Must be able to push and pull carts and patients in wheelchairs and geri chairs, etc. Sit while working with coworkers, patients, or completing paperwork. Stand, walk and climb stairs while making routine rounds, moving self or patients to other areas.
Prior to beginning employment, candidates must pass a pre-employment health assessment and pre-employment physical ability and agility screening.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have both of the following:
- Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin (WI). Eligible includes being currently registered as a professional nurse in another state and eligible to obtain licensure in WI (must be licensed in WI upon hire) OR graduate nurses within three months of graduation (must have Nursing Temporary Permit License upon hire).
- Education or experience providing nursing care to patients according to general nursing theory, processes and standards.
- Must be a Wisconsin resident.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience utilizing the nursing process to identify patient needs for nursing care.
- Experience assessing the physical and mental health of a patient.
- Experience interacting with others, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience using problem-solving techniques and conflict resolution methods.
