Duties Description The New York State Legislative Library is hiring a Legislative Library Assistant. Interested candidates should review the duties and qualifications and submit a resume and cover letter describing relevant work experience and how they meet the qualifications.
General description of duties :
- Assist with the upkeep, shelving, updating, and preservation of books and other library materials.
- Provide customer service to patrons at the information desk by locating materials, answering questions, and / or making referrals to the librarians.
- Update loose-leaf publications.
- Answer telephone calls when needed and direct calls.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.

The ideal candidate will also have experience in a law library or library information center with a significant legal collection.
Additional Comments This is a full-time, 35 hours per week position, Monday - Friday, 9.00AM-5.00PM. The incumbent is required to work unpredictable evenings during the legislative session (January-June).
Starting salary $40,000 to $45,000, commensurate with education and experience.
