Motor Equipment Service Technician

Job Description:

The role of Motor Equipment Service Technician involves diagnosing and correcting the causes of faulty vehicle and equipment operation. Key responsibilities include:

• Overhauling, adjusting, and repairing gaseous fuel engines, clutches, transmissions, and differentials;
• Inspecting complex hydraulic systems, steering mechanisms, wheel suspension systems, and body components;
• Conducting NYS inspections;
• Rebuilding starters, generators, compressors, pumps, spreaders, small engines, mowers, and other equipment;
• Diagnosing and repairing electronic engine control systems, anti-lock brake systems, and air conditioning.

This position requires effective utilization of department fleet management software and DOT electronic systems to manage repair schedules and parts stock. Overtime may be required, and during winter maintenance season, shifts may be altered.
