What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tandem Tractor Trailer Operator position at StateJobsNY?
Duties Description Oversee loading / unloading of goods at designated spots according to written instructions and ensure balanced distribution of load. Adjusts load to meet prescribed wheel / axel load limits. Verifies goods loaded / unloaded against shipping documents. Hitches trailer to tractor / connects hoses and lines for braking / lighting systems. Ensure tractor / trailers are maintained in accordance with recommendations. Maintains daily log book of hours driven each day, stops made, time off for lunch / non-driving time.
Minimum Qualifications Must possess and maintain valid licenses to operate a motor vehicle in New York State. May also be required under the New York State Department of Transportation's regulations for the transportation of specific types of products in course of normal duties (i.e., hazardous materials endorsement). Also must obtain a New York State Thruway Authority tandem permit which requires 5 years of verifiable driving experience.
Additional Comments Starting salary is not negotiable.
