Duties Description The New York State Senate is seeking applications for a motivated, organized, and detail oriented individual to fill the position of Telephone Operator in the Maintenance and Operations Department. The professional for this role will be responsible for creating a positive first impression for all visitors and employees alike.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Transferring incoming calls to the appropriate offices
- Looking up numbers as needed for Senate staff for members of the Legislature
- Providing members of the public with telephone numbers for their elected representative
- Making long distance and conference calls on behalf of Senate members and staff
- Notify certain Senate offices and the public the time of adjournment and when the Senators are scheduled to return to session
- Connect Senators and staff with Assembly members, Commissioners, Governor's staff and other State agencies
- Provide coverage for offices and forward phones as requested
Minimum Qualifications Qualified candidates will possess the following education, skills, and competencies :
Additional Comments This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 9.00AM to 5.00PM requiring evening and late hours when the Senate is in session January to June.
Starting salary is $30,000 to $35,000, commensurate with experience.
