Equipment Operator I-Park Maintenance
The City of Staunton’s Park Maintenance Department is seeking an Equipment Operator I to join its team.
Successful candidate performs routine semi-skilled work in a variety of maintenance assignments operating motorized equipment in support of the athletic programs of the Parks & Recreation Department. Responds to unscheduled emergency work such as storms, ice and snow emergencies.
Must possess a general knowledge of the use of common lawn tools and have the ability to operate light and medium lawn equipment. Must about the ability to understand and follow oral instructions, perform manual labor for extended periods, work without direct supervision and be able to follow safety policies and procedures.
Possession of valid driver’s license with good driving record. Must possess or obtain a CDL with passenger endorsement within a year of employment. Additionally, must possess or obtain a Registered Tech Spray endorsement within a year of employment. Must work in adverse weather conditions. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays if inclement weather or other adverse conditions require the clearing or work on parks, fields, etc. May be on call on a rotational basis for emergency work. Individual is subject to random drug testing. Ability to follow instructions, problem solve, work and think both independently and effectively in a team environment is required. $17.11/hr or higher DOE/DOQ ( ) excellent benefits.
