About the job

  • Architect, design, develop, and maintain software applications with a focus on quality and scalability.
  • Provide expertise in software architecture, design principles, and coding standards, ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Act as a leader in an Agile development team, mentoring junior developers and guiding technical decisions.
  • Design and implement Java-based applications using technologies like Java, Struts 2.0, JSP, Servlets and Spring Framework.
  • Develop and deploy applications on Apache Tomcat.
  • Handle Oracle database development, including table design, views, and stored procedures using PL / SQL.
  • Support and troubleshoot client database issues, including data modification and reporting.
  • Optimize application performance and resolve production issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to enable smooth deployments and ensure continuous integration workflows.
  • Provide technical support to the project team and take ownership of one or more components of an STC product.

About you

  • You have at least five years of experience as a software engineer or software developer; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, CIS, Math or Engineering preferred.
  • You have at least five years of experience with several of the following : Java application servers (e.g., Apache Tomcat, Oracle AS) and Java frameworks such as Struts 2.0 and Spring, along with Web Services, JSP, and Oracle database development.
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining user interfaces using JSP, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Strong ability to debug and optimize SQL statements for better performance.
  • Experience supporting client DBA activities, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, and resolving issues between applications and databases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
  • You have strong familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes including version management, change management, continuous integration (CI), test driven development, and unit testing methodologies.
  • You have prior experience working within an Agile SCRUM team.
  • You have strong Oracle SQL working knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with Postgres would be beneficial.
  • Must be available to do occasional support / maintenance after hours.
  • Familiarity with Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions like Keycloak.
  • Knowledge of building, packaging, and deploying applications into Docker containers.

    This position is remote-eligible, however living and working in Arizona is required.
