Steadily is hiring the Head of Insurance to lead our exceptional insurance org. You will have the ultimate responsibility for pricing sophistication, market penetration, product innovation, and underwriting profitability. If you enjoy leading high performers and being extremely hands-on, this is the role for you.
The scope of responsibilities may include actuarial, reinsurance, product, underwriting, and claims. This role is flexible in terms of title and responsibilities so if you have experience in some areas but not all, let’s talk.
What You'll Do
- Have ultimate responsibility for growth, sophistication, and profitability of our products.
- Collaborate closely with external partners including carriers, reinsurers, vendors, brokers, agents, etc. Lay the tracks for us to continue scaling quickly by leveraging your relationships in the reinsurance and carrier market.
- Develop ongoing actuarial processes to ensure ongoing market, program, and state level profitability.
- Construct models, workflows, and various other means of automation to reduce overhead and expenses in your org.
- Drive innovation by finding new methods to price risk better than the traditional solutions. Develop cutting edge, data-driven enhancements to our risk model.
- Continue leading the expansion of our internal claims operation. Use technology solutions to reduce cycle times, improve the customer experience and manage loss costs.
- Work with the actuarial team to build out a reserve methodology.
- You will roll up your sleeves and work alongside your high performing teams to get the job done. No task is beneath you.
Your Background
- Experienced: You have a stellar track record of growth and profitability. You’re an accomplished insurance leader with a minimum of 10 years of experience in P&C at a carrier or MGA. You have deep knowledge of reinsurance structures, pricing, and contracts. Your track record speaks for itself and gives you instant credibility.
- Network: You have a lengthy rolodex of industry contacts you can leverage.
- Education: CPCU and/or actuarial credentials are a plus.
- Leadership: You know how to build and lead a high performing team. Your team members respect you for both how competent you are and how you never ask them to do anything you wouldn’t do yourself.
- Builder: You have a builder’s mindset and can take projects and products from inception to launch and beyond. You have a bias towards action.
- Digital: Your tech savvy is exceptional. You have strong product sense and are a master of learning and implementing new software and processes. Your technical and analytical skills are top notch.
- Hungry: You want to make the leap into pre-IPO tech company to do things you’ve never done before. You want to roll up your sleeves and hustle – you are not looking for a traditional 9-5 job.
Compensation and Benefits
- We ensure our compensation is 90th percentile for every role. This role will include meaningful equity in the company.
