This position is responsible for promoting the safety and well-being of all users of the parks, trails, and waterways through public relations, education and enforcement of local ordinances and statutes.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThese examples do not include all possible responsibilities in this position and do not limit the assignment of related duties to this classification.1. Patrols area lakes and rivers in water patrol watercraft.2. Transports watercraft and tow vehicle between area lakes and rivers.3. Patrols County parks and trails on foot, bike, ATV or vehicle.4. Presents educational talks and classes to the public.5. Provides maintenance of boats, bicycles, ATV's and vehicles.6. Completes reports and citations.7. Attends work in a regular and timely manner.8. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Minimum QualificationsIn order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following: High school graduate or equivalentAt least 18 years of age or will be by April 2025Possess a valid Minnesota Driver's LicenseAvailable to work weekends and holidaysExperience using Microsoft Office SuitePreferred Experience Beyond Minimum Qualifications: Experience with watercraft loading, unloading and operatingRecent first aid training within the past two yearsCurrent Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within the past two yearsExperience providing security and/or enforcement of rulesExperience as a law enforcement explorer or reserve police officer and Successfully completed or currently enrolled in a law enforcement programDesirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities1. Knowledge of watercraft statutes and rules.2. Knowledge of county park ordinances.3. Ability to perform and make intelligent decisions independently and under pressure.4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.5. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Hours of WorkAs needed, not to exceed an average of 32 hours/week.
