What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mech position at Steel Dynamics, Inc?
This position is responsible for aiding in the maintenance of all transportation equipment.

- Act as the lead person in the maintenance garage, overseeing all Omni Technicians
- Perform Class 8 maintenance on diesel equipment, i.e. preventive maintenance, brake work, and DOT inspections
- Responsible for driving a service truck to OmniSource drivers’ locations and fix break down issues
- Communicate effectively with the fleet to understand the maintenance needs to ensure all equipment is safe and up to DOT standards
- Adhere and enforce all safety rules
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proficient in diesel electronic software.
- A valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 8-10 years in Class 8 truck maintenance experience.
- Must be able pass a DOT physical
- One to three years as a lead technician
- One to three years in a leadership position
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Excellent leadership qualities with that ability to motivate others.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer experience, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
