What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lineman/Loader position at STEEL KING INDUSTRIES, INC?
- Load product onto trucks for shipments in such a manner as to maintain stability of the load
- Determine proper sequence of loading to eliminate damage to product.
- Report accurate quantities, materials used and time in MD Link
- Read job specs to determine material quantity requirements
- Count number of items to be banded to verify number specified on work order
- Unwind plastic or metal banding from reel, wrap band around stack or bundle, insert loose end of banding into strapping tool and cinch , crimp and clamp banding material with strapping tool to secure items for shipping
- Count and record number of banded bundles
- Operate Overhead crane/hoist
- Prepare and apply lumber and other reinforcement material to protect bundles during shipment or storage
- Manually stack bundled articles on pallet
- Wrap protective material around bundled product making sure it is sealed
- Weigh and label products by marking size of article, customer name, order number, address and other identifying data on visible portion of bundle or shipping ticket
- Pack special arrangements of product
- Move product into proper storage areas
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. This position requires lifting of up to 70 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and explosives.
- Must be forklift certified or have equivalent forklift experience
- Must be familiar with all shipping documents
- Must follow Standard Work Instructions for Loading and Shipping
- Must hold a valid US driver's license
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
