Shift: 2nd Shift (3:00 PM – 1:00 AM)Reports To: Maintenance ManagerJob Summary:
The 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment in the steel processing plant. This role involves working on various types of plant equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, skilled individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently during the 2nd shift.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on steel processing plant equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Conduct inspections and testing of plant machinery to identify any issues or potential problems.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize downtime and production delays.
- Assist in the installation, modification, or improvement of plant equipment.
- Maintain and follow safety protocols, ensuring that work is performed in a safe and compliant manner.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including parts used and repairs performed.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members to complete large or complex repairs.
- Order replacement parts, tools, and materials as needed.
- Support efforts for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or 2nd Shift Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or steel processing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in an industrial environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and fluctuating temperatures.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Manufacturing environment with regular exposure to factors such as moving particles, temperature extremes, moving machinery, equipment and loud noise
- Average office noise levels when working in office, and ear protection along with other PPE required when working in plant
- Ambient temperature between 50 and 90 degrees
