Fabrication & Welding Technician Job Description

The fabrication and welding technician will be part of a team responsible for ensuring all groups provided to them are produced by the team in an efficient amount of time with quality work. All components and items produced must be to a certain precision to ensure installation can be completed effectively. The fabrication and welding technician is responsible for understanding how to operate all pieces of equipment in the fab shop, specifically a band saw, drill press and welding machine. This person must have the ability to work with little supervision but also work with the fab shop team to produce and finish groups. The individual will need to be comfortable reading basic floor plans and foot prints to accurately map out the building and weld the needed pieces for the structure.

Fabrication & Welding Technician Responsibilities:

• Ability to operate all equipment in fab shop including the welder
• Ability and willingness to complete any necessary work in the fab shop
• Read customer paperwork, blueprints, and drawings
• Ensure all items are produced correctly according to the paperwork
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
• Responsible for following procedures for production of groups
• Must be able to manage own schedule and complete multiple tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Must be able to independently initiate steps toward problem resolution in an efficient and effective manner

Fabrication & Welding Technician Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum two years experience preferred
• Proven experience using a variety of shop equipment
• Proven experience in welding
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face- shield, gloves etc.)
• Ability to work well under limited supervision
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills
• Great communication skills
• Have a valid driver license

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week
