What are the responsibilities and job description for the Steel Fabricator position at Steelfab Oregon?
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Welding – Working from blueprints or drawings, layout, cut and fit the material for welding. Preheat the material using a torch. Weld material using primarily Flux Core and Hard Wire (FCAW, GMAW). Use flame-cutting torch to separate parts and assemblies. Use overhead and jib cranes to move parts before and after fabrication. Read weld symbols and understand how to achieve the requirement.
2. Fabrication – Utilize fabrication equipment such as grinders, welders, and drill presses to create new parts or modify existing parts.
3. Quality – Work with Quality Control to evaluate work. Test parts and complete rework.
4. Job-related skills – Work within a team environment. Requires excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities. Position occasionally interfaces with customers, inspectors, and the public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS MAY INCLUDE:
- Daily use of ladders and lifts. Climbing Required.
- The use of hammers and center punches to make holes.
- The use of tape measures, squares, other layout tools.
- The use of magnetic base drills.
- Proper Safety/ Protective Equipment (Respirator, PAPRS, Masks, Gloves, Coveralls etc.)
- The use of drill presses
- The use of handheld clamps and basic hand tools.
- The use of hand held/pedestal grinders.
- Some lifting required = 50lbs.
- The use of overhead cranes to place/positioning parts and or components to be welded.
- Occasional use of forklifts.
- Layouts and tack parts together following prints.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $30.00 per hour
