Position Overview:

As the National Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading our technical outside sales team across all territories while personally managing key house accounts.  Your leadership will drive revenue growth, develop team capabilities, and strengthen Steeltech's market position nationwide.  Key responsibilities include:

  1. Team Leadership: Direct and develop a team of Technical Outside Sales Representatives across various territories, setting clear performance expectations and providing regular coaching to maximize their effectiveness.
  2. House Account Management: Personally manage and grow established house accounts, maintaining strong relationships with key customers and identifying expansion opportunities.
  3. Sales Strategy Implementation: Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve company-wide sales targets and market penetration goals in alignment with organizational objectives.
  4. Performance Management: Establish performance metrics, conduct regular reviews, and implement development plans for all sales representatives to drive continuous improvement.
  5. Territory Optimization: Analyze territory performance and make strategic adjustments to maximize market coverage and sales effectiveness across all regions.
  6. Sales Process Development: Standardize and enhance sales methodologies, tools, and best practices across the organization to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  7. Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the primary liaison between the sales team and other departments including Engineering, Production, and Inside Sales to ensure seamless customer solution delivery.
  8. Forecasting & Reporting: Develop accurate company-wide sales forecasts and provide regular performance updates to the COO on sales activities, market trends, and competitive intelligence.
  9. Customer Engagement: Participate in strategic customer meetings and negotiations to support the sales team in securing significant business opportunities and resolving complex issues.
  10. National Trade Show Coordination: Lead Steeltech's participation in industry events and trade shows to maximize brand visibility and lead generation opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field
  • 7 years of successful sales experience in technical/industrial environments with at least 3 years in sales management
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving sales targets and successfully leading sales teams
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, manufacturing processes, and technical product applications
  • Experience managing house accounts and developing major customer relationships
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and sales analytics tools
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30-40% to support team members in their territories
