SteerBridge seeks a Systems Engineer - Junior to support the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Junior Systems Engineer role focuses on integrating cybersecurity engineering requirements and authorization processes, including FedRAMP and RMF, into systems and applications. Responsibilities include contributing to the design, development, security, and implementation of IT and cloud solutions, with experience in large-scale cloud environments across federal and commercial sectors. The role also involves supporting Federal Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) and Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities, ensuring compliance with Federal policies, processes, and standards.

The Junior Systems Engineer role focuses on integrating cybersecurity engineering requirements and authorization processes, including FedRAMP and RMF, into systems and applications. Responsibilities include contributing to the design, development, security, and implementation of IT and cloud solutions, with experience in large-scale cloud environments across federal and commercial sectors. The role also involves supporting Federal Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) and Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities, ensuring compliance with Federal policies, processes, and standards.
Required
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be eligible and able to pass a federal background check, as well as complete the necessary processes to receive a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) badge.
- Must provide at a minimum, three (3) examples of projects that reflect the same, similar, or exceed the scale and difficulty of the Project.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Information Security, Information Resource Management, or related fields.
- Experience in cybersecurity engineering requirements and authorizations (FedRAMP/RMF) into systems and applications.
- Experience in IT and Cloud design, security, development, systems engineering, and implementation efforts.
- Experience in large-scale Cloud solutions in both federal and/or commercial industry.
- Experience with Federal A&A and ATO activities.
- Experience in Federal policies, processes, and standards.
- One or more of the following: IAT I, IAM I or IASAE I certifications.
2 years (1 year of Cybersecurity and Cloud Security experience at a Government agency similar in size/scope to DoD or VA).
