Summary Under general supervision, performs repair and maintenance on electronic patient care equipment, including electrical safety testing, installation, calibration and routine maintenance. Requirements EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Education and Work Experience : Must possess a high school diploma or GED Must possess an associates degree in Electrical / Mechanical engineering, Biomedical Engineering Technology equivalent, OEM service training or CBET credentials are excepted. A minimum of two years experience in biomedical engineering field performing maintenance on clinical medical equipment. Experience in the installation, testing and repair of such equipment. Courses in a curriculum teaching the charateristics in relation to configuration in AC / DC circuits, color code conventions used in component and wire marking, and knowledge of digital electronics / microprocessing concepts, boolean algebra and logical truth tables. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS License Requirements : N / A Certification Requirements : N / A Age Specific Care Provided For : N / A Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following : Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel Microsoft Outlook Meditech (if applicable to position) Epic (if applicable to position) Performance Manager / NetLearning Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public. Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Other Requirements : Must possess skills in knowledge of the priniciples and practices of Electronics or Biomedical Technoloy as applied to the calibration and repair of biomedical equipment and instrumentation with the abilities to perform schematic analysis, interpretation of equipment malfunctioning and soldering techniques. Must have knowledge and abilities to effectively use electronic and pneumatic measuring devices. Demonstrate the abilities to use volt / ohm / ammeter, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, funtion generators, DC power supplies, soldering and desoldering tools, electrical safety, defibrillator, electrosurgical analyzer and patient simulators. Familuarity with basic anatomy and Physiology as applied to the use and operation of clinical and radiology equipment.
