Cardiovascular Tech (CVT)

Summary The Cardiovascular Technician / Technologist uses specialty technology to create images or perform tests that help physicians diagnose medical conditions. Their duties include operating equipment to create diagnostic images; preparing patients for and monitoring them during cardiovascular medical procedures; analyzing and reviewing images and records. CVT responsibilities include performing stress tests- monitoring ECGs while the patient exercises on the treatmill (or while receiving pharmacological stress agents), recording vitals, and reporting symptoms to supervising physician. Some travel is required. The staff member demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all age groups with special emphasis on middle and senior adults. The staff member must evidence the ability to apply these principles when selecting equipment, performing tests, and interacting with clients and their families. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions Must be able to perform treadmill exercise stress testing (utilizing the Bruce or modified Bruce or Naughton protocol) Requirements EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Education and Work Experience : High School Diploma or GED A minimum of one year experience is preferred as a Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS License Requirements : N / A Certification Requirements : Certified cardiovascular technologist / technician (CCI) credentialined within 3 months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date, any specialty is applicable BLS / ACLS certification required- Healthcare Provider level Age Specific Care Provided For : Adolescents Adults Geriatrics Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel Microsoft Outlook Meditech (if applicable to position) Epic (if applicable to position) Performance Manager / NetLearning Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following : Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
