Summary Mercy is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to support our Volunteer Program! The Volunteer Coordinator will work hand in hand with the Director of Community Engagement and Volunteer / Student Programs to facilitate the onboarding and placement of Mercy's Volunteers and assist with managing Mercy's Volunteer Program. Responsibilities Maintain departmental volunteer schedules, the volunteer "record-keeping" system, affiliation agreement files, and volunteer supply inventory Assist with onboarding candidates utilizing the HRIS system & act as the primary liaison with Mercy’s Employee Health staff to ensure volunteers / students meet onboarding compliance standards Conduct monthly volunteer attendance audits, volunteer candidate interviews, regular volunteer rounding, Ensure / promote volunteer compliance with GHO / OSHA learning modules including subsequent annual compliance and annual health standards. Provide ongoing correspondence with volunteers relating to logistical matters and activities (handwashing reminders, HIPAA compliance reminders, celebratory activities) Participate in Maryland Healthcare Directors of Volunteer Services organization activities to assist in promoting the profession Assist with planning and conducting volunteer recognition activities Respond to phone and email questions and inquiries in a timely manner Coordinate ongoing volunteer departmental activity in the absence of the Director Create ID badges as need arises Support HR activities / events and functions (recruitment fair support, e.g.) Requirements Must possess a high school diploma or GED. BA in Human Resources or Business preferred. 1-3 years of Community, Volunteer, and / or Human Resources experience Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following : Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public. Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Able to multitask, work independently, have organizational and prioritizing skills.
