Overview
Job Title : Manager, Accounting
Job Location : Melville, NY
Salary : $120,000-$135,000 / yr
Responsibilities
Coordinate the activities of select accounting staff, including work assignments, and reviewing work product.
Provide technical advice, guidance, and train staff in procedures according to generally accepted accounting principles and established company procedures.
Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and established company procedures.
Responsible for the preparation of reports, such as budget reports, cash flow reports, etc., as required.
Assist cost accounting with prep of analytical studies of accounting data, i.e. : cost analysis of labor & material, assets, liabilities, etc.
Assist outside accountants with annual audit.
Assist cost accounting with prep of detailed cost summaries and inventories to determine job costs, unit costs, etc.
Establish and maintain files and records necessary to the orderly operation of the accounting function.
Accumulate data to prepare and make monthly journal entries.
Enter journal entries in system to generate general ledger reports.
Prepare periodic budget, cash flow reports, etc., as required.
ADP Payroll backup / Costpoint employee information maintenance
Prepare payroll tax reports as required.
Review purchase orders, receiving reports and vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness
Ensure timely payments of vendor invoices
Responsible for preparing the accounts payable register and related reports
Coordinate cash disbursements to ensure prompt payment of invoices.
Responsible for preparing the accounts receivable register and related reports
Cash receipts application and tracking of customer invoice payment status
Manage fixed asset depreciation and accounts receivable processes.
Must be able to perform all the duties of subordinate accounting department staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree Accounting or equivalent with 9 years or Master’s degree with a minimum of 7 years cost and general accounting experience within a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated management experience.
ERP systems, Microsoft Office proficiency
