Job Description:
- Support hearing impaired students in their learning programs through interpretation in both general education and special education settings.
- Collect and record data concerning the student's progress as requested by the teacher.
- Assist students in completing assignments.
- Work closely with the teacher of the hearing impaired, classroom teachers, and the student’s family to develop and support appropriate learning interventions.
- Provide interpretation services and assistance to students with hearing impairments.
- Assist classroom teachers in adapting instructional programming and materials for hearing impaired students.
- Help the physical education teacher and librarian adapt regular program activities to meet the needs of hearing impaired students.
- Assist hearing impaired students with academic and non-academic tasks, as well as sign language skills, including the use of computer technology.
- Ensure the safety of visually impaired students during activities.
- Collect, analyze, and report on student learning data to adjust the learning program and instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with a building team in planning and providing instruction.
- Plan and contribute to IEP paperwork as required for each assigned special education student.
- Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and district staff through ongoing communication.
- Utilize technology to provide effective instruction to students of all learning levels.
- Adhere to Governing Policies and District Regulations and Procedures.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous successful classroom experience working with students, preferably those with hearing impairments.
- Certification in American Sign Language (ASL).
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $32.00 - $37.00 per hour
