What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Coordinator position at Stellar Group Inc?
The payroll coordinator will be responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. They also handle payroll taxes, deductions, benefits, and compliance with federal, state, and local laws. The payroll coordinator works closely with the human resources and accounting departments, as well as with external agencies and vendors.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for salaried and hourly employees, including overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other payments on a weekly and monthly basis
- Review and verify time sheets, attendance records, and payroll reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Resolve payroll issues and inquiries from employees, managers, and external parties in a timely fashion
- Maintain and update payroll records, files, and systems in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
- Coordinate with human resources and accounting departments to ensure proper administration of benefits, deductions, and reimbursements.
- Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and adjustments as needed.
- Stay updated on the latest payroll trends, best practices, and legislation.
- Provide payroll-related reports and analysis to management and stakeholders.
- Assist in yearly 401k audit(s)
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:

Education/Experience:
- Associate's degree or higher in accounting, finance, business administration, related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least two years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a large and complex organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and payroll software, such as UKG/KRONOS, Paychex, .
- Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, and regulations, including federal, state, and local tax laws in all states
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
Travel Requirements:
- Flexibility to travel on short notice for urgent business needs, to attend meetings, trainings, and events.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance during business trips.
- Compliance with company travel policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer, phone, printer, scanner, and other office equipment.
- Visual acuity for detailed work and computer use
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds of files, documents, and materials.
