Job Description
Stepan is seeking an R&D Engineer (PTD Specialist II) to join our team in the Process Technology Department (PTD) at Stepan Millsdale. In this role, you will report to the PTD Technical Director. The role involves designing complex research strategies, developing innovative chemical engineering solutions, leading pilot development, managing projects, and mentoring junior engineers. It also focuses on improving process efficiency and staying updated with industry advancements.
- Independently design overall research strategy (including DOE) for complex projects
- Apply extensive expertise with significant breath or depth of chemical engineering and other relevant principles, theories, and concepts to assignments where precedents typically do not exist.
- Develop solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
- Lead product and process pilot development and scale-up
- Identify opportunities and develop solutions to improve process efficiency and reduce product cost which result in tangible financial contributions (>
250,000 / year).
