This is a professional position responsible for assisting in managing the activities of Project RAICES to include providing technical or field-specific assistance. Responsible for ensuring all requirements of the sponsored program are met. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Project Director, RAICES.
Essential Job Functions
This is a professional position responsible for assisting in managing the activities of Project RAICES to include providing technical or field-specific assistance. Responsible for assisting with the programmatic oversight of the grant and conducting the project activities as approved by the funding agency while adhering to sponsor guidelines, applicable regulations, and university policies and procedures. Responsible for ensuring all requirements of the sponsored program are met. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Project Director, RAICES.
1. Assists project director in overseeing the activities of Project RAICES.
2. Assists in monitoring project expenditures and ensures they are allowable, allocable, and reasonable to meet project goals and objectives.
3. Complies with all federal oversight regulations and reporting.
4. Provides technical or field-specific assistance related to project.
5. Ensures personnel paid from grant or contract funds perform at the level of effort stated in the grant/contract and effort is reported as required by university policies.
6. Assists in monitoring subcontracts, subrecipients, and consultants and ensures reporting requirements are met.
7. Compiles technical reports required by the sponsor and submits in a timely manner, sending copies or notification of submission to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP).
8. Maintains project files, including evaluation records, and documentation for expenditures. Ensures records are retained for the required length of time upon termination of the grant/contract.
9. Serves as liaison and maintains continuous communication with project participants.
10. Coordinates and publicizes events hosted by the project, including family and community engagement events and the Language Learning Academias (LLA).
11. May supervise assigned staff and/or student assistants.

Non-Essential Job Functions
1. May be required to travel to various off-campus locations to attend meetings and conferences.
2. May work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.

Physical Demands Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is required.
Required Experience and Training
Three years of related experience is required. Experience overseeing grant programs, large projects, or educational teams and knowledge of the field is required. Experience teaching or working with teachers is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in ESL instruction is preferred. Spoken and written Spanish language skills are preferred. Texas teaching certificate is preferred.

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a National Professional Development grant for Project RAICES (Reaching All Individuals and Communities to Establish Success in Language Learning).

This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
